Lawyer sends dog killer letter to BCSPCA

If you love animals or care about cruelty to animals then please consider joining supporting your local SPCA or other animal rights organization.

My heart almost stopped when my son told me that his mother, Liz Summerfield, pictured left, had taken my dog Punzhu to the South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital to be killed. Liz had told the veterinary clinic that Punzhu had bitten a postman and she’d been ordered to have Punzhu put down. This turned out to be a lie.

I checked with the post office and found out that Punzhu was with Liz outside her mother’s house when the postman approached. According to the postman and the post office, the postman did not file a complaint nor did the post office order Liz to destroy Punzhu.

I was very upset that the South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital killed my dog without any written documentation from the Post Office. They killed my dog on the verbal advice of my now former wife, who simply lied to them, during a period of our divorce in which she had refused multiple court orders to turn over her financial records so the courts could see what she did with all the money she had removed from joint account prior to filing for divorce.

Below is part of a letter, which was mailed to SPCA branches in the lower mainland, prepared by my lawyer after checking the facts:

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

About four years ago I adopted a dog from the Animal Control Pound in New Westminster.

In October of 1995, my ex-wife, Elizabeth Summerfield, separated from me and left the family home, taking my dog with her. I asked my ex-wife where the dog was but she refused to tell me. I learned at the end of November, 1995, that she had had the dog euthanized at South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital on November 16, 1995.

I hope that you will not consider Elizabeth Summerfield (who may revert to her maiden name of Elizabeth Gray) as a potential adopter of animals from the SPCA in future.

Yours truly,

Ted Summerfield

Liz may be teaching puppets or arts & crafts to children in New Westminster and surrounding communities. I feel it is the right for parents to know about a dog killer who may be teaching or entertaining their children.

A number of studies on people who kill animals

The Vancouver Sun newspaper published an article today titled Convicted animal killer Kayla Bourque granted unescorted day passes, which got me thinking about what type of person deliberately kills an animal.

A Michigan University study in 2008 (a) titled Cruelty to Animals and Violence Towards People found: “Cruelty to animals and violence towards people have something in common: both types of victims are living beings, feel pain, experience distress, and may die from their injuries. [1] Until recently, however, violence towards animals had been considered to be unrelated to violence towards children and the elderly, and other forms of domestic violence. [2] A correlation has now been established between animal abuse, family violence, and other forms of community violence. [3] A growing body of research indicates that people who commit acts of cruelty towards animals rarely stop there. [4] Murderers and people who abuse their spouse or children had frequently harmed animals in the past. [5] People who abuse animals may also be dangerous to people. [6]  “

A Pyschology Today article in September, 2013, titled Animal Cruelty and the Sadism of Everyday Life (b) found “… that a statistical analysis revealed that sadism was a bigger factor in predicting animal cruelty.”

A 2010 article on PETA (c) titled Only Sociopaths Intentionally Hurt Animals: A Professional View stated “An individual who is able to engage in cruelty to animals appears to have no conscience and thus no remorse for his or her behavior. The act of cruelty to animals results from an apparent need for power and control, and this need is accompanied by a lack of empathy. Animals are targeted, especially helpless and defenseless ones, because the perpetrator does not recognize or care that they have feelings and can experience not just physical pain but also emotional pain.”

An article (d) in HG law web site titled Animal Abuse is a Predictor of other Crimes, Including Domestic Abuse, Murder, Rape & More had this to say; “Animal abuse is like a crystal ball into the future of the abusers. Many people realize that animal abusers are likely to commit a host of other offenses, including murder, rape, and robbery, and a plethora of studies backs this up. Still, animal laws in most states, including New York, treat animals as chattel and animal abuse and neglect as mostly misdemeanor charges at most.

As readers of my blog know, my now ex-wife Liz Summerfield killed my dog during the divorce she initiated. She killed my young rottweiler-german shepard cross during the weeks and weeks she repeatedly refused to comply with multiple court orders to turn over her bank statements showing what she had done with the not so trivial amount of money she removed from our joint account before filing for divorce.

I’m not suggesting Liz is going to go out and murder anyone or do anything like that mentioned in the articles listed to anyone or any child or dog she comes across while teaching or instructing children in the lower mainland of BC or wherever, for I’m not qualified to formulate such a consideration, but I believe I’m beginning to get a glimpse as to the type of people who kill animals.

Local NDP MP Peter Julian has picture taken with dog killer

NDP Member of Parliament Peter Julian has represented the Burnaby – New Westminster riding for many years and recently got caught having his picture taken with a New Westminster dog killer.

Liz Summerfield and Peter Julian

To be fair to Peter Julian MP he or his staff probably never checked to see whom he may be photographed with. It is unlikely a political figure would want to be shown in a photo op with a thieving, dog killing woman.

However, in this age of social media some people might expect politicians or anyone in the public eye would be a tad more diligent of their image.

Of course there are publicly funded community groups which don’t list the names of all the artists or people associated with an event. Some artists are simply listed as TBA.

Still, politicians and parents of children should know with whom they or their children are coming into contact.

Here is a link to posts on dog killer Liz Summerfield, included within is letter to BCSPCA warning them of Liz Summerfield.

Dog killer teaching hat making to children in New Westminster

A dog killer is teaching children in New Westminster and surrounding municipalities/cities as recently as this month. Parents should be aware of who is teaching their children or coming in contact with their children. Few if any publicly funded art groups, art councils, festival organizations or civic groups take the time to vet those hired or volunteering to come in contact with children or the public.

While arts councils and the general public may not think there is anything wrong hiring a dog killer to teach children it is up to each parent to decide who teaches their children.

It only takes a few seconds to check the Internet for information on someone coming into contact with your child or children.

Pet killer arrested for breaching probation

pet killer

Pet killer Kayla Bourque, who a judge has described as “psychopathic” and a “sexual sadist,” was arrested Thursday for allegedly breaching conditions of her release from jail.

In 2013, B.C. Corrections issued a rare public notification to alert the public that Bourque had been released from jail with plans to live in Vancouver.

Bourque has offended violently against both people and animals and is considered high risk to re-offend, according to the Ministry of Justice.

She was arrested in March 2012 after she boasted of disemboweling and dismembering her cat and told a friend she fantasized about shooting a homeless person or killing someone in residence at Simon Fraser University.

Reading this story about Bourque reminds me of two other dog killers, Brian Whitlock and Liz Summerfield.

Brian Whitlock was sent to jail for beating his dog and leaving him for dead in a dumpster in 2012. A couple of years later Whitlock was charged with murder of woman at her Dunbar home

The other dog killer, Liz Summerfield, escaped charges. She simply lied to the South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital when she told them the dog with her had been ordered by the Post Office to be put down because the dog had bitten a postal worker. The Post Office never ordered the dog put down.
<>
Liz Summerfield had the family dog put to death during a series of court orders demanding she turn over to the divorce court bank records as to what she had done with the very large amount of money she’d removed from their joint accounts just prior to her filing for divorce. She refused to comply with any of the multiple court orders.
<>
Liz had removed the dog from the family home prior to her husband being served divorce papers. She refused to allow him to see his dog or any of the other two dogs she removed. The dog she killed was a Rottweiler/German Shepard cross her husband had rescued from the New Westminster Animal Shelter.
Special place in hell for those who harm children and animals
Liz instructs children throughout the lower mainland of British Columbia including Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Maple Ridge, Port Moody, Whistler, Vancouver, in a variety of different art like puppetry, papier mache, heritage hat making, or other art forms. She may also be offering public speaking courses throughout the lower mainland.

The tale of two dog killers

Brian Whitlock, who was sent to jail for beating his dog and leaving him for dead in a dumpster in 2012, has been charged with the second-degree murder of his mother in the Dunbar area of Vancouver, BC, according to this CBC news report.

Dog killer brian whittlock

Whitlock beat his two-year-old German Shepard, Captain, and left him for dead in a Kitsilano dumpster. Whitlock, then 26, got a 60-day jail sentence and a lifetime ban on owning animals after pleading guilty to animal cruelty in the high-profile case.

Whitlock’s mental health was cited as a factor in the animal cruelty case. Medical records indicated he had been diagnosed with, and was being treated for, psychosis and schizophrenia during the year leading up to his sentencing.

During Sunday morning Brian Whitlock was being taken into custody and charged later in the day with second degree murder.

Elizabeth (Liz) Summerfield, who had her husband’s dog killed during divorce proceedings, simply lied to everyone and got away with murder.

During the divorce she took her husband’s dog, whom she had stolen from the matrimonial home, and went to the South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital where she told the vets the Post Office had ordered the dog be put down for biting a postman.

That was a lie, which the Post Office confirmed in conversation with the husband and the husband’s lawyer. The veterinary clinic never asked for any proof of such an order from the post office and never contacted the Post Office to confirm the order. They simply took the money and killed the dog. Killed an innocent animal. Here is link to letter for BSPCA written by husband’s lawyer.

Why would a wife murder an innocent animal during a divorce she initiated? Money.

Liz had removed a vast amount of money from their joint account prior to filing for divorce. Her financial records were sought by the judge to determine where that money had gone.

Instead of obeying any of the many court orders demanding she turn over her financial transactions Liz simply lied to the veterinary hospital and had her husbands dog killed. Perhaps she killed her husband’s dog, Punzhu, in order to force her husband to agree to her divorce demands? Perhaps she felt murdering his dog would end the divorce court judge’s demands for her bank statements? Whatever her reason for killing Punzhu her husband quickly agreed to her divorce demands, fearing what Liz might do to his son.

Liz teaches children in the lower mainland of BC including Coquitlam, Port Moody, Vancouver, Whistler, Burnaby, Port Coquitlam, Richmond, Delta and Surrey, and at various art festivals and holidays during the year held in various cities and municipalities, art and art related classes including puppetry (she removed all the family puppetry related property worth tens of thousands of dollars prior to filing for divorce, not including an almost brand new top of the line Chevrolet Suburban she also removed prior to filing for divorce), heritage hat making, and other arts and crafts instruction and/or sale of arts and crafts.

Parents should confirm who is teaching their children at any open function, like a festival or art class or other venue where their children are placed in a situation of trust, just as a matter of precaution. Liz may be a good instructor, but shouldn’t a parent want to know about someone teaching their children?

The City of Vancouver hired a Hells Angel without too much – if any – background check. Would you want your child taught by someone without a background check of any kind?

Here are two things you can do to begin protecting your son or daughter when he/she/they are away from you and in the care of another:

Is the name of the instructor provided in any printed or online material? No? Why not? Who is going to be the instructor? Never leave your children in the care of someone you know nothing about.

Have you personally checked the Internet for any mention of the name? The Internet is a quick and simple way to check for information about someone who may come into contact with your children.

Liz may be welcomed to teach children by various community centers in BC, invited to attend festivals and art camps to teach children, and parents may well want her to teach their children, moreover, even readers of this post may see nothing wrong with a woman who lies and kills an innocent animal teaching their children. I just feel that, as a public service to parents, they have the right to know something about the people who are teaching their children, and I suggest parents Google the names of anyone teaching or instructing their children as a precaution.

Special place in hell for those who harm children and animals

Some festivals or community centers offering activities for children don’t show who is teaching their children. Vancouver, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Haney, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Langley, Whistler and other areas often hold activities for children during the year. As a precaution, parents should phone and ask who the instructor is and then check the Internet for any information which could be of interest to a parent.

Just last year B.C. Corrections issued a public notification after a pet-killer, described by a judge as a “psychopathic and narcissistic … sexual sadist,” was released from jail with plans to live in Vancouver.

Parents, a warning about another BC dog killer possibly teaching your children

Special place in hell for those who harm children and animals

According to the Vancouver Sun, B.C. Corrections has issued a public notification after a pet-killer, described by a judge as a “psychopathic and narcissistic … sexual sadist,” was released from jail with plans to live in Vancouver.

Kayla Bourque, 23, has “offended violently against both people and animals and is considered high risk to re-offend,” according to the notification by the Ministry of Justice, but Kayla isn’t the only dog killer roaming the streets of the lower mainland.

There is another dog killer, and she could be teaching your children at any of the local art councils events, library events, festivals, art camps, or schools in Burnaby, Coquitlam, Vancouver, Maple Ridge, Port Moody, Surrey, Langley, North or West Vancouver, or perhaps Whistler.

Did you enroll, or are thinking of enrolling, your child in a puppet making or puppetry class, papier mache, lantern making, or other arts related event at Place des Arts in Coquitlam, Surrey, Burnaby, New Westminster, or other lower mainland locale?

How do you do if your child is being taught by a dog killer or other person whose values you may question? Some municipal districts or art-related public institutions hide who is instructing your child; they don’t list who the instructor is, or, as Place des Arts in Coquitlam does, lists an instructor as TBA or TBD.

Parents should make every effort to protect their children from coming into contact with questionable instructors by finding out who is teaching their children before enrolling their child.

Phone the people hosting the event and ask the name of the instructor, and then check that name on the Internet.

The B.C. Ministry of Justice issued a warning about Kayla Bourque, and now I’m warning you about another dog killer.

This other killer of an innocent animal simply lied to a veterinarian during a time the courts were hounding her to disclose what she had done with a very large sum of money she had taken from the joint bank account prior to filing for divorce.

This other dog killer simply told the vet the post office ordered her to put the dog down because it had bit a mailman. This was the lie. No one at the post office ordered the dog put down, and the veterinarian clinic, The South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital,  never asked for any written confirmation of order. They simply accepted the lie without question.

The name of the other dog killer teaching children in the lower mainland of BC is Liz Summerfield, who may use her maiden name Liz Gray as lawyers’ letter to BCSPCA indicates, and I urge parents to confirm who is teaching their child or children whenever the instructor is listed as TBA or TBD or not listed at all.

Warning letter sent to BCSPCA by lawyer.

Parents living in the Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Anmore, Belcarra, Port Moody, Maple Ridge, Burnaby, New Westminster, Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Surrey, and other lower mainland areas should search the Internet for information on anyone teaching or coming into contact with their child or children.

Has your child attended a class at Place des Arts, Place Maillardville, ArtsConnect, Port Moody Station Museum, Fair in the Square, or an event put on by the New Westminster Arts Council or your local school involving any of the following activities?

Children attending a lantern-making workshops or classes involving Easter or Christmas arts or crafts, heritage hats, masks or other arts/crafts may have been instructed by a known killer of a dog, a woman who lied to a vet in order to have a dog killed, and a woman who refused to comply with multiple court orders.

Read this list of posts on this dog killer.

Arts Council of New Westminster supports dog killer

One of the members of the 2010 – 2011 Programme Committee of the Arts Council of New Westminster is dog killer Liz Summerfield. Yes, my ex-wife killed my dog and lied to a vet in order to have my dog killed.

We lived in the home I purchased in Queens Park area of New Westminster, until Liz filed for divorce and our Queens Park home had to be sold. A day or so before her application for divorce was delivered to me, Liz removed almost all the funds – a substantial amount – from our joint account.

Numerous court orders were issued to Liz to provide bank statements explaining the missing funds, but she never honored the court orders. Instead, during the time she failed to honor 4, 5 or 6 court orders, she took my dog to the South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital and had my dog killed.

My son told me Liz had killed my dog. Fearing what she might do next, or might do to my son, I directed my lawyer to finalize the divorce and to stop looking for all the money Liz had removed from our joint account prior to filing for divorce.

This letter was prepared by my lawyer and explains why Liz is a dog killer known to the BCSPCA and other animal rights organizations.

My ebook Final Decree is based in part upon my divorce.
